Patient General Preparation Guidelines
ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND ( Liver, Pancreas, Gallbladder, Spleen)
The patient must not have anything to eat or drink after midnight
AORTIC ULTRASOUND
The patient cannot have anything to eat 6 hours prior to the exam.
RENAL ARTERY ULTRASOUND
The patient must not have anything to eat or drink after midnight
RENAL & BLADDER ULTRASOUND
Drink 16 ounces of water 1 hour prior to exam. The patient cannot void one hour prior to the exam.
CAROTID, PERIPHERAL VASCULAR (arterial/venous), THYROID
There are no necessary preparations.
